Penn State Health is a multi-hospital health system serving patients and communities across 29 counties of Pennsylvania. Its mission is to continually improve the health and well-being of the people of Pennsylvania, and beyond.
The system includes Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center, Penn State Health Children's Hospital, and Penn State Cancer Institute based in Hershey, Pa.; Penn State Health Hampden Medical Center in Enola, Pa.; Penn State Health Holy Spirit Medical Center in Camp Hill, Pa.; Penn State Health St. Joseph Medical Center in Reading, Pa.; Penn State Heath Lancaster Medical Center (scheduled to open in Lancaster County in Fall 2022); and 126 practices in 94 unique outpatient locations spanning 10 counties. Penn State Health employs more than 17,000 people, including 2400 physicians and advanced practice providers. Additionally, the system jointly operates various health care providers, including Penn State Health Rehabilitation Hospital, Hershey Outpatient Surgery Center, Hershey Endoscopy Center, the Pennsylvania Psychiatric Institute and Cancer Care Partnership with Mount Nittany Health.
Penn State Health is experiencing unprecedented growth. In December 2017, the system partnered with Highmark Health to facilitate creation of a value-based, community care network in the region.
Our goal together is to ensure patients in the communities we serve are within:
- 10 minutes of a Penn State Health primary care provider
- 20 minutes of Penn State Health specialty care
- 30 minutes of Penn State Health acute care facility
And now, with the expansion of virtual care, patients have easier access to providers from the comfort of home.
Penn State Health shares an integrated strategic plan and operations with Penn State College of Medicine, the University's medical school. With campuses in State College and Hershey, Pa., the College of Medicine boasts a portfolio of more than $155 million in funded research and more than 1,700 students and trainees in medicine, nursing, and other health care professions and biomedical research.
With every person, practice and partner that joins our health system, we bring more high-quality clinical care, clinical trials and education to the people of central Pennsylvania and beyond.
This is Penn State Health.
